Sunbursts

by DBLevin

The universe is full of colorful folds
I’m seeing with my mind for the first time.
Pinpoints of light constellate into nebulous wonder,
every neuron a moment of liquid thought;
ants in the woodwork
fighting for home.
Burn us out,
smoke us out,
but we have chromosomes
and infinite imagination.
Discovery flakes from the sky.
Desperation reveals the emotion in my eyes
